Framer Alternatives (2026): What Makes You Leave, and What the Same Site Costs Elsewhere
Leave Framer for Webflow if your CMS is outgrowing the Pro plan: 20,000 items and 40 collections cost $190 a month on Framer and $25 on Webflow, both on yearly billing.1 For a small team with a designer the bills are close and Framer is slightly cheaper: a team of three pays $80 on Framer and $88 on Webflow.2 If your site is a store, the lead worth checking is Squarespace, which charges no store fee from its Core plan up; its US-dollar price is still pending.3

Why people leave Framer, and the fix for each
Lists of Framer alternatives usually give you a row of tools and a feature grid. The better question is which limit made you look. Six come up again and again, and each has a different fix, or no fix at all.
| Reason to leave | The Framer limit | The fix | The bill at the fix, per month (yearly / monthly) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your CMS is outgrowing Pro | 2,500 items and 10 collections included; paid packs above that | Webflow Premium | 20,000 items, 40 collections: Framer $190 / $255 vs Webflow $25 / $394 |
| More than 10 people need to edit | 10 editors on Basic and Pro; Enterprise is custom | Webflow, any Workspace plan | Each extra person on Webflow: full seat $39 / $45 or limited seat $15 / $19, against Framer’s $20 / $30 and $10 / $155 |
| You need your code | Code export is not listed on Framer’s pricing page | Webflow Core Workspace | Premium $25 + Core $19 = $44; monthly $39 + $28 = $676 |
| The site is a store | No built-in checkout; sell through a Shopify plugin, Shopify billed separately | Squarespace Core or Advanced | 0% store fee; USD price not yet checked7 |
| A portfolio with a blog, on the lowest bill | Basic covers up to 30 pages, 2 collections and 1,000 items | Stay on Framer | Framer Basic $10 / $15 vs Webflow Premium $25 / $398 |
| One to three extra languages | $20 per locale yearly, $25 monthly | Webflow Localize Essential | $9 / $12 per locale against Framer’s $20 / $25; from the fourth language Framer is cheaper9 |
Read the table as a filter. Five of the six rows end at Webflow or Squarespace and one ends at “stay”. Only two rows save money on Webflow: the CMS row, by $165 a month, and languages, by $11 per locale for up to three. Extra seats and code export cost more on Webflow, so in those rows you move for the limit, not the bill.10
The CMS row is the one that costs real money
On Framer, extra CMS capacity is sold in packs on Pro: $20 for 10,000 more items and $40 for 10 more collections on yearly billing, up to 40,000 items and 40 collections.11 A site with 20,000 items and 40 collections therefore stacks Pro at $30, two item packs at $40 and three collection packs at $120: the $190. Webflow Premium includes 20,000 items and 40 collections at $25, so the gap is one plan against one plan plus five packs.
The crossover comes early. Up to 1,000 items and two collections, Framer Basic is $10. The 1,001st item or a third collection moves you to Pro at $30, already $5 above Webflow Premium before anyone adds a seat.
| CMS size, site plan only, yearly billing | Framer | Webflow |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 1,000 items, 2 collections | Basic $10 | Premium $25 |
| Up to 2,500 items, 10 collections | Pro $30 | Premium $25 |
| 12,500 items, 10 collections | Pro + 1 item pack = $50 | Premium $25 |
| 20,000 items, 40 collections | Pro + 5 packs = $190 | Premium $25 |
Per month, plus tax. Our arithmetic.12
Pages split: Webflow Premium includes 300 static pages for $25, while Framer Pro includes 150 and sells 100 more for $20, so 300 pages cost $70 on Framer. Past 300, only Framer goes further, up to 700.13 Past 20,000 items the picture changes: Framer’s packs keep going to 40,000, and we have not priced anything above Webflow Premium.
Before you leave: the cheaper Framer bill
A lot of people who feel Framer is expensive are paying for a setup, not a plan. Three changes need no migration and can move the bill more than switching tools. All three start from the same team of three used on every page of this site: an owner, one designer on a full editor seat, one writer on a content seat, up to 150 pages, one extra language. Every line is broken down on Framer pricing.
The default bill. Pro $30, editor $20, content editor $10 and one locale $20: $80 a month on yearly billing.14
1. Ask which seats truly design. A content editor works on CMS content, localization and on-page text, at $10 a month yearly against $20 for a full editor. If both teammates only write and update content, the bill drops to $70, 12.5% less.15 Do not read that as a reason to stay, though: the same content-only team on Webflow, with two limited seats, is $64, $6 less than Framer.16
2. Check whether you need Pro at all. Basic is $10 and covers up to 30 pages, 2 collections and 1,000 items, and Framer lists the locale add-on on Basic as well as Pro.17 If your site fits inside that, the same three people and the same language come to $60, and with two content seats instead of an editor, $50.18 Webflow has no cheaper plan with a CMS, so the same teams stay at $88 and $64 there. Most team sites will not fit in 30 pages, which is why Pro is the default on this site.
3. Pay yearly, and know what yearly does not cover. The same team on monthly billing is $115, 44% more than $80.19 Framer’s help article says charges for editors on annual plans are billed monthly, so the yearly payment does not cover your seat bill up front.20
Viewers cost $0, so a stakeholder who only looks and comments needs no paid seat.21 None of this fixes a CMS that is too big, a team over 10 editors or a code-export need. What it fixes is the bill for a small team with a designer: at three people, Framer is $80 against Webflow’s $88. If nobody on the team designs, Webflow is the cheaper of the two. For what Framer does well beyond the bill, see our Framer review.
The alternatives
Webflow
Best for: a CMS-heavy site, a team that will pass 10 editors, a site in one to three extra languages, or anyone who needs code export.
Webflow bills in two layers: a site plan per site, and a Workspace plan for seats and staging. Premium, the plan with a full CMS, is $25 a month yearly and $39 monthly, with 20,000 CMS items, 40 collections and 50 GB of bandwidth; more bandwidth is sold in steps from $20 a month yearly for 50 GB.22 Webflow’s cheaper Basic plan, $15 / $25, has no CMS, so a site with a blog starts at Premium.
Seats are the part search snippets get wrong. Webflow’s help page says every Workspace plan, including the free Starter, can buy unlimited full or limited seats, so you do not need a paid Workspace plan just to add people.23 Paid Workspace plans matter when you need more staging or site-level permissions.24
Languages are priced per locale in two tiers: Localize Essential at $9 a month yearly or $12 monthly for each of up to three locales, and Advanced at $29 per locale yearly, up to 10.25 From the fourth language Framer’s $20 per locale is the cheaper of the two. Full line-by-line bills are on Webflow pricing.
Not for: a solo portfolio on the smallest bill (Framer Basic is $10 against $25), a team with many full designers ($39 a seat against Framer’s $20), or a site in four or more languages, where Framer’s $20 per locale beats Advanced’s $29.

Squarespace
Best for: a store-first site, on the limits we could read.
We have limits for Squarespace, not prices. Basic allows 2 contributors and charges a 2% transaction fee on store sales and 7% on digital content; Core and Advanced allow unlimited contributors with no store fee, and a digital-content fee of 5% on Core and 0% on Advanced.26 Video storage is 30 minutes, 5 hours and unlimited across the three plans, and the pricing page describes bandwidth and storage as uncapped.
The US-dollar price is pending: the pricing page we reached showed local currency, and we do not convert it.27 So we cannot tell you what a Squarespace version of your site costs, only where its limits fall against yours.
Not for: a comparison on price, until the dollar figure is read.

Wix
Wix also sells website builder plans. We have not read its plan limits or US-dollar prices in a form we can stand behind, so it has no row in the table above and no bill on this page.28 It gets numbers in the first refresh after the price check.

WordPress, as a comparison point only
WordPress is not a like-for-like swap: the software is one decision, and hosting, a theme and plugins are separate bills, usually from different companies. That is why a “WordPress price” cannot be put beside Framer’s in one number, and why this page does not try.29 If you want to own the code, it is a route; the trade is that you maintain it.
Same startup, two bills
The team of three from the section above, priced on Framer and Webflow with the same assumptions: one site on a custom domain, up to 150 pages, up to 2,500 CMS items, one extra language, under 50 GB of bandwidth a month.
| Line | Framer, yearly / monthly | Webflow, yearly / monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Site plan | Pro $30 / $45 | Premium $25 / $39 |
| Designer | Editor $20 / $30 | Full seat $39 / $45 |
| Writer | Content editor $10 / $15 | Limited seat $15 / $19 |
| Workspace | none | Starter $0 / $0 |
| One extra language | Locale $20 / $25 | Localize Essential $9 / $12 |
| Total per month | $80 / $115 | $88 / $115 |
Our arithmetic from the vendors’ pricing pages, checked Nov 2–3, 2026. Plus tax.30
On yearly billing Framer is $8 a month cheaper, $96 a year; on monthly billing they tie.31 So at this size, moving to Webflow costs more on yearly billing and the same on monthly. The cases where it pays are the ones at the top: a large CMS, more than 10 editors, a team with no designer ($64 on Webflow against $70), or a need for code export. For three team sizes side by side, read Framer vs Webflow.
Questions
What is the best alternative to Framer?
It depends on the reason you are leaving; the table near the top maps six reasons to a fix. For a large CMS, more than 10 editors or one to three extra languages it is Webflow. For a store, Squarespace is worth checking, price pending. For a small portfolio the cheapest answer is to stay.
Is Webflow cheaper than Framer?
For a solo portfolio with a blog, no: $25 against $10 a month on yearly billing, because Webflow’s $15 plan has no CMS. For a team of three with a designer, no: $88 against $80 yearly, a tie monthly. For a team that only edits content, yes: $64 against $70. For a large CMS, far cheaper. Details in Framer vs Webflow.
Is there a free alternative to Framer?
Webflow’s Starter site plan is free, with 2 static pages, 1 GB of bandwidth and a 50-item CMS.32 Framer has a Free plan of its own; see Is Framer free? for what it allows.
Can I move my Framer site to Webflow?
We have not researched migration yet, and we make no claim about how clean it is. Check what a rebuild means for your pages, CMS content and redirects before you count a monthly saving.
Is Squarespace easier than Framer?
This page compares plan limits and prices, not ease of use, so we do not rank it. We have not researched the two editors side by side.
